His heart guides my hands, and I write.

He whispers in my soul, and I speak. Honored to be used, excited about each day, overwhelmed by His grace – that is me.

An ordinary Brazilian girl, a foreigner in the land. In all aspects, inadequate to be doing what I do. That’s just another proof that God can use anyone with a surrendered heart.

I thirst for Him in the morning and anticipate hearing from Him daily. I love to soak in His wisdom and to know Him more. It gives me peace. It fills me with power. It restores my broken heart.

God called me into ministry in 2010, and I started Soaring with Him Ministries with trembling knees and great humility. I knew I was inadequate, to say the least. But I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that God told me to step out and start walking in the direction He was showing.

It takes courage to walk into the unknown. And my “unknown” was no different. English is my second language. I was not a writer. There were obstacles in my way and “friends” to point out that I must have heard it wrong.

But God

There are not two words I love most in the Bible than these two: But. God. He takes our meager loaves and fish and does what only He can: miracles.

Since I said yes, He opened incredible doors. My writing has been featured in several places, including in my weekend column for the largest newspaper in the South (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution) since 2012. I have published a book and started a podcast that features interviews with some of my favorite authors, actors, and producers in the faith-based movie industry.

Soaring with Him Ministries has flourished and now serves women with three outreach programs: Agape Shelter Ministry, which includes my bible studies for free to women in transition homes, and Love Day – a day when our volunteers become the hand and feet of Jesus to the women in the shelters we serve. We also have a bible distribution ministry, giving away copies of the Bible and Study Bibles to shelters and other individuals who cannot afford a copy of God’s Word.

Finally, Soaring with Him also offers an annual women’s conference, SHE SOARS, which takes place annually in the Atlanta area, with free attendance to the women in our shelter program.

I am married to my best friend, a “Southern gentleman” I met in Brazil in 1996. We have two beautiful daughters who make us proud and fill our lives with laughter. I am also the happy momma of two mini-Schnauzers and an adorable Calico cat. Not a dull moment in the Holbrook house, for sure!

God is so good. So faithful. And incredibly willing to take you by the hand and show you that Jesus came to save you AND give you an abundant life, regardless of your circumstances (John 10:10).

My passion and joy are to share the things He has taught me, which have allowed me to soar above some pretty tough trials: unemployment, ongoing health trials, including cancer, loneliness, and even the tragic death of a loved one.
