A Podcast episode with Rick and Jane McKinney

Hello, dear listeners and readers!

It’s Patricia Holbrook here, and I am thrilled to share with you the incredible journey and profound wisdom of our latest guests on the God-sized Stories podcast, Rick and Jane McKinney. In this episode, we delve deep into a story of unwavering faith, obedience, and the amazing transformations that stem from walking hand-in-hand with God.

Rick and Jane have been together for over 50 years, and their bond is not only a testament to their love for each other but also their unwavering dedication to their faith. Both met as college sweethearts—with Rick as a religion major and Jane a music major. They’ve turned their shared love and passion for Jesus into a lifetime of ministry.

One of the most remarkable parts of our conversation was Rick’s prayer walk across America, a 3,000-mile journey from Los Angeles to Washington D.C. Rick embarked on this mission after being inspired by Joshua 1:3, feeling called to claim the land by setting foot on it. This walk wasn’t just a physical journey but a spiritual crusade, one that transformed lives along the way, including their own.

Prayer Walking Across America

In an age where society often misunderstands the Christian call to love unconditionally while not endorsing all behaviors, Rick and Jane’s journey offers powerful insights. Jane’s role as a substitute teacher beautifully illustrates how befriending students and demonstrating Christ’s love through kindness can break down barriers, even when lifestyles differ.

Their journey was laden with challenges—walking 20 miles a day, facing blisters, financial difficulties, even dealing with severe burns. Yet, through these adversities, Rick and Jane’s faith never wavered. Their stories strengthen our belief in God’s constant provision and remind us of the immense power of obedience.

In their book “And… So We Walked,” Rick and Jane capture their journey, aiming to inspire others to say “yes” to God’s calling. Their story is not just about the miles they traversed but the transformational encounters and local changes they witnessed. One such touching story involves a woman they inspired who went on to become a NASCAR chaplain and pastor.

As we discussed prayer walking, both Rick and Jane emphasized its powerful impact. They recounted miraculous stories demonstrating the long-lasting ripple effects of these spiritual walks. Whether it’s claiming spiritual authority over your home or neighborhood, their testimony is a compelling call to action.

Close to my heart were Rick’s final reflections on the enduring nature of faith and ministry. With no plans for traditional retirement, Rick continues to spread his message through writing, teaching, and future prayer walks. His and Jane’s journey is a poignant reminder that God calls us to serve at any stage of life.

Join us for an inspirational episode filled with heartwarming stories, reflections on faith, and practical advice on living a life of obedience to God. And don’t miss the book giveaway of “And… So We Walked” to one lucky listener!

I hope Rick and Jane’s story will inspire you as much as it did me. Until next time, may you walk steadfastly in your faith, listening for God’s call in your life.
